PAP Smear test – How does it help in prevention of cervical cancer?

Cervical cancer has become very common in India. PAP smear test helps in the prevention of cervical cancer. PAP smear test is done using the cells collected from the cervix and it helps identify the cancer even before its onset. Cervical cancer in women is caused by Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). PAP smear test will identify this virus in the patient’s body and with proper treatment, it is possible to prevent cervical cancer.
